DESCRIPTION:Nora Volkow\, M.D.\nDirector of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)\, Nora D. Volkow\, M.D. revealed addiction as a brain disorder\, showing how dopamine system changes impair reward and self-control. A pioneer in brain imaging\, she also advanced understanding of obesity\, ADHD\, and aging through her research.
