The 411 on Cannabis Edibles

This presentation will focus on education about the behavioral pharmacology of oral cannabis, aka edibles. Following this lecture, attendees should be able to differentiate the expected effects of oral versus inhaled cannabis and be able to advise patients with respect to clinical decision making related to oral cannabis use. Ryan Vandrey’s research focuses primarily on the behavioral pharmacology of cannabis (marijuana) and includes controlled laboratory studies with adult research volunteers, clinical trials, web-based survey research, and natural history studies with patient populations using cannabis/cannabinoids for therapeutic purposes. He has been involved with a broad range of studies related to the risks and benefits of medicinal cannabis use, the effects of cannabis use on sleep, cannabis withdrawal and the treatment of Cannabis Use Disorder, cannabis product testing, and developing measures of cannabis use behavior. In addition, he has also been engaged in research on nicotine and tobacco regulatory science and treatment. Dr. Vandrey aspires to conduct objective research that addresses critical questions related to regulation and policy. He received his BA from the University of Delaware and his PhD from the University of Vermont in 2005.
