Pearls for Pain Management in the Traumatic Injury Population Experiencing Substance Use Disorders

This webinar is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners or other advanced practice nurses, PAs, and pharmacists. The live webinar is accredited for nurses.
Webinar Description: This webinar is geared towards health care providers caring for hospitalized patients with pain and a substance use disorder, with a focus on people with traumatic injuries. This webinar will use a case based approach to outline some of the challenges and complexities of managing pain in trauma patients with a substance use disorder. The primary content will describe a successful analgesic plan and transition to Suboxone in the acute traumatic postoperative period.
Educational Objectives:
- Outline some of the unique challenges of the post traumatic injury population with substance use disorders
- Describe non-opioid pharmacological interventions for pain management
- Identify several non-analgesic factors that will improve the quality of pain management of this complex population

The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing® is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering has been submitted for approval for nursing contact hours applicable for RN, LPN and LMHT relicensure.
