Improving Perinatal Health in Maine: Launching the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of Maine

Maine has one of the highest infant mortality rates in New England. This daylong learning collaborative brings together key players to discuss and plan strategies around improving the state of perinatal health care in Maine, under the direction of expert perinatal clinicians utilizing evidence-based practice when available, who represent the full range of perinatal choices and birth options.

 Objectives:

  1. Engage hospital teams and others in a common agenda to improve perinatal outcomes in Maine through a Perinatal Quality Collaborative for Maine. (PQC4ME).
  2. Highlight current perinatal data in Maine including bright spots and gaps in care.
  3. Discuss national data and trends and how these apply to Maine providers.
  4. Provide an overview of PQC4ME priorities in Maine and for the Northern New England Quality Improvement Network (NNEPQIN)
  5. Highlight upcoming quality improvement work including a specific initiative on Safe Sleep.
  6. Set the stage for a more comprehensive Perinatal System of Care in Maine.
